Maps can portray the world in different ways depending on their construction and this book shows how it has been made simpler by the use of computers. The text includes a theoretical introduction about map projections and formulas for 68 different views of the world. The description of each projection system is accompanied by one or two maps illustrating the deformation characteristics, allowing a quick evaluation of its merits and the effective use of the map for a particular purpose. All the maps shown have been produced and computed wih the formulas given in the book.
