Detailed Description
247 pgs, 1999, Johns Hopkins University Press ISBN 978-08018605329 This book documents NASA partnerships with the many firms in the aerospace industry. Covering mainly the past 50 years, it discusses two important issues: innovation, specifically NASA's role as an innovator, and NASA's role in business creation. At a higher level, Bromberg raises an interesting question: Is the government necessary to jump-start the private sector? Which comes first-government or business? Contrasting with studies by historians, economists and politicians, Bromberg's twist argues for a collaborative effort. Empirically, she uses the communication satellite sector to substantiate her arguments.
